Joe has been involved in the fitness industry for over ten years. He began his
career working in local fitness clubs and coaching high school athletes. He became
an American College of Sports Medicine certified trainer and currently works as an
independent contractor.
Joe, along with other trainers, started the corporate fitness
program at the ClifBar Inc. headquarters in Berkeley, CA. He instructs numerous
classes there each week including spinning and circuit training. He also provides
orientations for new staff members on the correct use of equipment.
Last year, Joe
became associated with Transition Sports in San Leandro, CA. He designed and led
their triathlon club's weekly track workouts. In addition, Joe trains clients of
all fitness levels at Synergy in San Francisco and other locations.
Joe has competed in many sports throughout his life. He now focuses primarily on
triathlons, biking events, and running events. He has competed in Mrs. T's National
Championships biathlon and triathlon. Other races include, Wild Flower,
Escape from Alcatraz, San Jose International, the Providian Relay,
MS Waves to Wine, MS Tophat, MS Tour de Jour, Tour de Tucson,
Tahoe Century, London Marathon, L.A.
Marathon, and San Francisco Marathon.
Joe earned his B.S. in Kinesiology from the California State University at Hayward.
He currently is working on his teaching credential at CSUH. As part of the program,
he teaches physical education classes to elementary and high school students.
Joe is an avid surfer and has surfed up and down the coast of California,
Costa Rica, Mexico, Australia, and Hawaii. Joe and his wife, Susan, live in
Castro Valley, CA with Aspen, the Labrador, and two kitties, Barbie and Millie.
